Rory back in Macroom 2014
Sunday 8th June 4.00pm - TP Cotters Bar Main Street Macroom
Sinnerboy + Guest
All these years Jack and Brenda Cotter have been looking after the famous cut out of Rory which appeared over the gates of Macroom Castle for The Mountain Dew Festival in 1977. This was the first outdoor gig in Ireland and takes pride and place in Irish rock history. To this day no one knows who painted it and who erected it. It was blown down in heavy winds as the festival finished. It now has a permanent home in part of the bar know as ‘Bullfrogs’ which is where the above gig will be held. Dave McHugh is the original tribute and will play a lot of Taste, rolling back the years.
This gig itself is a free gig and there is a return coach leaving Cork City at 1.00pm from St Patricks Quay for visiting and local Rory fans. Those who would like a seat can reserve one by contacting the Cork Rocks for Rory organisers through Facebook or email, details of which are on Cork Rocks poster. The return fare is 10 euro and will leave Macroom at 9.00pm. There is already a lot of interest in this event so please reserve your seat to avoid disappointment. Brenda and Jack are laying on a barbeque and its an outdoor gig in keeping with tradition J at the back of the pub. There will be many visiting musicians from Europe and afar and I dare say will honour the great man in style.
